There are many different ways to achieve a saturation but the vacuum tube delivers the best result ever.

The reason lies in the way the valve modifies the signal. It returns a warm and rich sound of second harmonic. The valve is responsible for the sound that the human ear likes. Last but not least, soft and controllable clipping. The choice of valve falls on the triode due to its characteristics. Get a warm, rich and smooth sound.

In details, the Tube Drive is controlled by two push-buttons. Ten step to set the desired signal contour. The higher the level the higher the “saturation” effect.

the SHD.5K fatures one single  double-triode tube per channel, for a total of two tubes per module. The Triode provides a smoother type of overdrive with more ‘even harmonics’ up to an aggressive distortion with more ‘odd harmonics’. The two channels are controlled simultaneously. The module has two more additional controls: Input and Output. The input controls the level, of  signal going to the tubes. The Output control sets the out level. Unlikly other unit in the market, the SHD.5K introduces asymmetrical waveform for both sound enhancement and clipping.

The unit comes out equipped by two different LED metering. A Drive level meter helps you to set the sound enhancement as well as the saturation. An output level LED meter shows you the output signal level. Both are peak meters. It’s beneficial for monitoring the output with respect to the digital converter connected to your DAW.

A bypass switch switches the module out (true bypass) using a relay for complete balanced bypass. The unit, when in bypass, is completely excluded from the signal path and the signal from the Input is fed to the output directly.

By letting the unit work with the right input levels and the lowest “tube driver” value, you get a “track warmer” to remove that annoying and cold plastic sound of digital.

SHD.5K is a stereo unit to be used at any time during the recording process, as well as mixing and mastering. No filters, no wet/dry controls, no bulls**ts. These are features you can easily set on your DAW and noise-free.
